How to Apply?

Saint Mary's College welcomes applications from international students. For those students who are permanent residents or citizens of the United States, please complete the regular Application for Admission and Scholarship.

Admission is based on grades and curriculum in a secondary course of study, command of English as demonstrated through standardized testing, an essay and recommendation. A candidate's file will be evaluated when all information has been submitted.

To be considered for Admission, an International Student must submit the following items:

1.) The completed International Application for Admission and Scholarship - Note: this application is submittable on-line.

If you would rather download and print out an application along with the necessary supplemental forms, see below.

2.) An essay on one of the topics listed on the application.

3.) A $30 non-refundable application fee (either in the form of a check drawn on a US bank or in the form of an international money order–we do not accept credit cards for payment of application fees, please do not send cash)

4.) A complete, official, certified and true copy of the secondary school record and any post-secondary coursework. All records must be translated to English by a person other than the applicant or applicant’s family. Also, certified copies of any state or national exam results are required, e.g. IGCSE, GCE "A" level, Senior School Secondary Exams, etc.

5.) One Administration/Counselor Recommendation

6.) Official score reports from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (www.toefl.com) and the SAT I: Reasoning Test (www.collegeboard.com). If your native language is not English or if the language of instruction in your secondary school is not English you must take the TOEFL . Information on test dates and registration for both these exams can be found through the links provided to both websites. Please note: SAT II subject tests (writing, math IIc, and a foreign language) are not required for admission but are used for placement of entering first year students.

7.) The completed Certification of Finances form* - this is part of the necessary supplemental forms that you may download, see below.

These materials should be submitted as early as possible, as applications are considered on a rolling basis after December 15. However, if you are an outstanding student both in the classroom and outside, but cannot afford the cost of a Saint Mary’s education, and wish to be considered for the one intensely competitive International Scholarship (that covers tuition, room & board, fees, health insurance, and books and provides a part-time campus job), you must have all necessary pieces required for an admission decision, plus a separate International Student Financial Aid Application* by January 15. * note: this form to be available shortly -please check back

Methods of Application:

1.) On-line — forms are available. Please note, the International Application for Admission and Scholarship can be filled out and submitted on-line. However, the Certification of Finances, Administrator/Counselor Recommendation, and International Student Financial Aid Application (if applying for the competitive International Scholarship) must be printed out from the website and filled in.

2.) Printing out all forms — all forms can be printed from our website, filled in and mailed to our office along with academic transcripts, application fee, and any supplemental information you wish to provide.
