Pittsburgh, PA What she likes best about SMC: I really like the people here. They are all very friendly and smart. When I sat in on classes at SMC as a prospective student, I was very impressed with the intellectual abilities of the students as well as the students articulation when they spoke. Activities: Member of the Triathalon team, President of the Irish Dance Club, also a member of PAC, the Pacific Asian Coalition Plans after Graduation: Graduate school in either Ornithology or Writing Favorite Off-Campus Activity: Going to Lula's Coffeehouse on Monday nights to hear Kennedy's Kitchen, an Irish Band. Favorite Restaurant in Town: Papa John's Pizza Most Memorable Experience in College: Going to Seattle, Washington through the Office of Multicultural Affairs to attend the largest conference on racial and socioeconomic issues.

Lake Orion, MI What she likes best about SMC: The small, inviting, almost family like atmosphere the campus has. I love the fact that I can walk out my door and run into at least five people I know. Activities: Works in the Admission Office, member of the SMC tennis team, co-chairwoman of the Judicial Board. Plans after Graduation: To attend law school in Washington D.C. and then to work in D.C. upon law school graduation. Favorite Off-Campus Activity: Notre Dame football games Favorite Restaurant in Town: Perkins Most Memorable Experience in College: When my tennis team won the MIAA Conference last year in Kalamazoo, MI!

Lima, OH What she likes best about SMC: I really like the friendliness of all of the students and faculty. It's great that people you don't even know will say hi to you where ever you go on campus. Activities: Technology Commissioner for the Board of Governance, Math Club, Hall Council, Toastmasters, Friends with Sisters, Orientation Counselor. Plans after Graduation: Working in the Marketing field in Columbus, OH Favorite Off-Campus Activity: Going dancing on Thursday nights with my friends Favorite Restaurant in Town: Papa Vinos Most Memorable Experience in College: My freshman year I was in class and the professor remembered me from when I had visited SMC the year before. He called me out of class and told me that if I ever needed anything to let him know. Since that day he has referred to me as his "adopted daughter".

Westbury, NY What she likes best about SMC: I really like the professors here. I can talk to them, and they are very supportive and always willing to help me. The small classroom setting is great. Activities: Vice-President of the Student Diversity Board, tutor in the Writing Center Plans after Graduation: Attend Graduate school for MSA or Women's Studies, and then eventually become an English Professor. Favorite Off-Campus Activity: Driving around South Bend with friends. Going to Borders and the shops downtown. The people I have met here are wonderful and very supportive. Dallas, TX What she likes best about SMC: Saint Mary’s is my home away from home. I really like the close community here, SMC is not too big and it’s not too small. I also like the Catholic aspect of SMC. Activities: Campus ministry, Volunteer work in the South Bend Community, Rome Program Plans after Graduation: To either be a reporter or to work in the Political Field Favorite Off-Campus Activity: I enjoy going out with my Friends at the end of the week to relax after a hard week of studying. Atlanta, Georgia What she likes best about SMC: I love the opportunities to get involved that I have been offered here, as well as the sense of community that exists. Everyone really works for the good of everyone else. It creates an amazing atmosphere that provides a network of friends, administrators, faculty, Alumna, who are all very supportive. Activities: Student Government: Freshman Board, Sophomore Class President, Student Body Vice-President, Judicial Board, VISA member Plans after Graduation: To go into politics, eventually running for office but initially in campaign consulting Favorite Off-Campus Activity: Shopping at the outlet malls. I don't know what is more fun, the shopping or the road trip there! Favorite Restaurant in town: Catalino's Most Memorable Experience in College: Sophomore Parents Weekend. The night of the dinner dance was amazing. There is one particular moment that sticks out in my mind. When our class song "You've Got a Friend" came on all the women from my class got in a big circle on the dance floor with their arms around each other and sang and danced to the song as a group. It was just amazing that a group of such diverse women were so connected by their love for SMC. |
