The Saint Mary’s College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted their annual Holiday party on Sunday, December 3 for community children and their families. Six of the eight varsity sports teams provided fun, food, and entertainment for their guests.
Approximately fifty families made the trip to Angela Athletic Facility on Sunday afternoon to take part in the festivities. Each team provided a craft for the children to make, including ornaments, snowmen, and Christmas trees among other various holiday decorations.
Kelly Biedron, a sophomore cross country runner, “It is a great opportunity for everyone to get into the holiday spirit while bonding with our teammates. It was a lot of fun and I really enjoy being able to give back to the community.”
In addition to the crafts, children had the opportunity to play basketball, volleyball, and participate in other activities while also having the chance to get their picture taken with Santa Claus. “The kids get very excited when they see Santa Claus. One little girl told me she was going to make a list to give to Santa in person. It’s great to see the kids’ responses to Santa,” commented senior volleyball player Kristen Playko.
