Bridget Boyce knocked down her 129th career three-pointer to
surpass Julie Radke as Saint Mary’s leading shooting from
beyond the arc in a 91-66 loss at #7 Hope College Saturday afternoon
in MIAA women’s basketball action
The win lifts Hope’s record to 24-1 overall and 16-0 in
MIAA action while the Belles fall to 11-14 and 9-7 respectively.
The Flying Dutch jumped to the lead by hitting seven of their
first nine shots, including five straight three-pointers and
never looked back in the win. The Flying Dutch held a lead as
large as 41 points in becoming the first MIAA team to go undefeated
in a 16-game league schedule.
Alison Kessler scored a team high 20 points for the Belles while
Boyce chipped in 16 and Bridget Lipke recorded 10.
Next week the Belles will host Alma College on Tuesday evening
at 7:30 p.m. at the Angela Athletic Center. It will be the first
time that Saint Mary’s has hosted an MIAA tournament game
since joining the league during the 1997-98 season. The Belles
will be the third seed and Alma the sixth seeded squad in the
nine-team event.
