Record Three-Point Shooting Leads Saint Mary’s to Triumph;
Kessler Nets Career Best Scoring Output

Saint Mary’s nailed a school record 12 three-pointers en
route to a 83-73 win over Kalamazoo Saturday afternoon in MIAA
basketball action.
The win lifts the Belles to 6-10 overall and 4-3 in MIAA action
while Kalamazoo falls to 4-10 and 1-6 respectively.
In the opening half the Hornets took a 28-26 lead with 8:45
left in the first half but Saint Mary’s didn’t trail
the rest of the game after going on a 14-2 scoring run over the
next 3:55. In the second half Kalamazoo got their deficit down
to two points on three occasions but couldn’t overcome
the Belles shooting effort.
Saint Mary’s shot a season best 56.4 percent (31-for-55)
from the field while hitting on 57.1 percent of their three-pointers
(12-for-21).
The previous school high for shots made beyond the arc was 10
against Franklin College on Nov. 23, 2002.
Bridget Boyce scored a game high 23 points on the strength of
5-for-8 shooting from beyond the arc. Alison Kessler scored a
career best 22 points in 37 minutes.
