North Park overcame
a halftime deficit to knock off Saint Mary's, 55-49, Friday evening
in non-conference action in Chicago.
The Belles held a 25-23 edge at intermission as both teams shot
less than 30 percent from the field in the opening frame. Saint
Mary's hit six of their 31 shots in the second half and North
Park was able to do just enough from the field (9-of-30) and
foul line (14-of-24) for the win.
As a team the Belles hit on 23 percent of their shots (13-of-56)
while knocking down two of their 15 attempts from beyond the arc.
Saint Mary's posted a 21-for-30 effort from the free throw line.
Erin Newsom led all Belles scorers with 14 points while grabbing
nine rebounds. Bridget Boyce also scored in double figures,
scoring 13 points on the
strength
of
her effort
from
the charity
stripe
as she
hit on
