Mission StatementProviding guidance in career exploration, internship acquisition, and transition to post-graduate education and work opportunities!
Core Values
- Career Planning is a developmental process. Generating a satisfying relationship with the world of work involves an analysis of one's talents, values, experience, interests, and aspirations; exploration and identification of possibilities; successful self-promotion; and thoughtful evaluation of opportunities leading to a commitment towards a chosen path of education and/or employment.
Each student is special. The CCO respects the professional aspirations of every student and tailors its services to respond to the uniqueness of every major.
- The CCO is a partner in the career planning process. As the student is primarily responsible for determining her career focus and using campus resources to facilitate a successful career transition, the CCO provides assistance through:
- Education- providing accurate and timely information about careers, job search tactics, and employment opportunitiesSupport- providing professional, technical, and reference resources for generating a career exploration strategy, improving resume writing and interviewing skills; assessing employment opportunities, and negotiating a satisfying compensation package.
- Advocacy- building viable personnel-recruiting relationships with employers, graduate schools, and volunteer organizations.
