Sister
Kathryn Rita Mulligan, CSC
(- November 27, 2007)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please, join in prayer of thanksgiving
for this Sister of the Holy Cross who
died on November 27, 2007.
Sister Kathryn was a third generation Sister of the Holy Cross and the
sixth in her family to enter the congregation, followed by her two
younger sisters, Sister Ann Catherine (deceased) and Sister Mary
Mulligan. During the critical time of her last illness it was Sister
Mary who was constantly by her bedside, no doubt a great consolation to
Sister Kathryn who valued deeply family ties. One of the first things
they did when they returned to Saint Mary's was to visit all the family
members in the cemetery: Sister M. Romula -- 1929, Sister M. Alexis --
1930, Sister M. Bernard -- 1933, Sister M. Coaina -- 1977 and Sister M.
Helen Rose -- 1989.
Most will remember Sister Kathryn as a brilliant student and creative
educator, but her unsung accomplishment was her dedication to helping
the poor and the elderly. She designed and implemented many programs to
provide service to this often forgotten segment of our population. Her
25 years of loving service in Sacred Heart Parish in Covina, California,
were marked by amazing creativity and zeal in meeting the needs of these
people of God. Her successes were unknown to many but she rests now in
the peace of God, and she also rests on her laurels because she never
took credit for all the good she did.
Funeral arrangements for Sister Kathryn are reception 9:00 a.m., funeral
1:30 p.m., Thursday, 29 November 2007, Church of Our Lady of Loretto.
