When
you arrive for duty:
- Document
your arrival in the online
login screen in Netscape or Internet Explorer running in the Media
Center.
- Check
the Corporate Time schedule to see if there are deliveries or pickups
you need to make.
- Perform
a radio check by letting Bill Waymouth know you are on duty.
- If
you are leaving the Media Center for more than 5 minutes leave
a "Media
Center Consultant Back at 3:15" type of note on the Marker Board.
Before
you leave:
- Make
sure the Media Center is straightened up.
-
If headphones, etc were checked out, make sure the student who checked
it out is still using it. If not, return the item to its cabinet and
call the student asking her to pick up her ID. If it is still in use,
make sure an ID or a note is left for the next consultant on duty
in the log.
- Put
any loose papers around the printer into the recycling bin.
- Document
the time you left in the online checkout web form.
- If
you need to leave at the end of your shift but the next consultant
on duty has not yet shown up and you are concerned about the timing
of the next delivery, notify Bill Waymouth of your concerns.
Things
NOT to do:
- Do
not ignore patrons of the Media Center or expect them to ask for assistance.
Your responsibility is to be helpful to patrons of the Media Center,
so please bend over backward to offer assistance to all visitors.
- Do
not skip your assigned shifts, scheduled meetings, or any shifts you
agreed to substitute for another consultant.
- Do
not leave the cluster during your shift to run personal errands.
- Do
not use the phone except for cluster-related business. A media Center
patron may use the consultant phone only for short urgent calls.
- If
you have deliveries or pickups in a classroom building don't postpone
these trips until the end of your shift - thinking you will make
the delivery on your way to class. Take care of all such deliveries
during
your shift so that when you leave the Media Center all scheduled
tasks have been performed.
Always
- Show
a friendly, approachable, helpful demeanor. Smile! :-)
