Installing the Office 2007 Converter (PC)

Office 2007 saves files with a new 4 character extension instead previously used 3 character (i.e. filename.doc will now be filename.docx, xls will become xlsx, etc.) To minimize potential problems we are asking Office 2003 users to install the Office 2007 file converter.
  • From your desktop, double click on My Computer.
  • From the My Computer window, double click on Public on 'Diamond SMC Samba Server... (P:)
.
  • From the public on 'Diamond SMC Samba Server (diamond)' (P:), double click on the Software Distribution folder.
  • From the Software Distribution window, double click on the Office 2007 File Converter folder.
  • In the Office 2007 File Converter window, double click on FileFormatConverters.exe icon.
  • In the Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system, Click (the box) to accept the Microsoft License terms.
  • Click Continue.
  • Several windows will appear while the converter installs.
  • When the installation is complete, click OK.
