Saint Mary’s Students Host Riley Hospital Fundraiser

NOTRE DAME, Ind.—Student leaders at Saint Mary’s College invite the public to Battle of the Bands, a fundraiser for Riley Hospital for Children located in Indianapolis. The event is Saturday, Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the student center lounge. Admission is $6 ahead of time, $8 at the door.
Saint Mary’s, Holy Cross College and University of Notre Dame students who have formed their own bands will compete with one another, each playing in 20-minute sets. Guest judges include: Thornbird, a nationally touring rock band; Ulysses Noriega, Music Producer/Engineer in Los Angeles; and Dave Taylor and Gene Ort of Gene Michael Productions in Buchanan, Mich.

This is the first of several fundraisers for Riley planned by the First Year Board and the Residence Hall Association of Saint Mary’s College.

Riley Hospital treats more than 2,000 children from St. Joseph County annually. “Because of the impact Riley Hospital has on this community to which we all belong, Saint Mary’s students want to give back,” says Maura Clougherty, fundraising chair.
