International Organization Selects Saint Mary’s VP for Housing Summit

NOTRE DAME, Ind.—A group of campus housing experts from across the country will convene in Chicago next month to begin designing the
college and university residence halls of the future. Saint Mary’s
College Vice President for Finance and Administration Laurie
Stickelmaier is one of the invited participants to the 21st Century
Project summit, held Feb. 5-8.

The 21st Century Project is a multi-phase program that will culminate in
the construction of a state-of-the-art residential facility. The
Association of College and University Housing Officers–International
(ACUHO-I) and its member organizations are sponsoring the development of this prototype. Federal agencies such as the Department of Energy, Department of Education, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development will also be recruited to participate at various stages in the process.

“This is not simply a group of people brainstorming a wish list of
ideas,” says Sallie Traxler, ACUHO-I executive director. “When the
project is complete, there will be tangible evidence of our work and we
fully expect it to serve as a model for the college residence halls to
be built around the world for the next generation.”

As vice president for finance and administration at Saint Mary’s, Laurie
Stickelmaier supervises all business and facilities operations at the
college and serves as its chief financial officer. Stickelmaier has also
been an active member of the National Association of College and
University Business Officers (NACUBO) for 20 years. NACUBO nominated Stickelmaier for the 21st Century Project.
