For Immediate Release: January 25, 2007 Annenberg Public Policy Director Speaks at Saint Mary's College NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Saint Mary’s College invites the public to a lecture by Dr. Kathleen Hall Jamieson, director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania. The talk is Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Little Theatre, Moreau Center for the Arts. The event is free of charge. Jamieson’s talk is the first of an annual lecture series, begun through the establishment of the Ann Plamondon Endowed Fund in Communication Studies. The fund, named for Saint Mary’s College Communications Professor Ann Plamondon, Ph.D., will bring respected scholars and distinguished communications professionals to campus to share their experiences with others. A select group of alumnae raised $50,000 to endow the fund. Jamieson, who is also a professor of communications at the University of Pennsylvania, is co-author of ten books including: “Everything You Think You Know About Politics…and Why You’re Wrong” (Basic Books 2000) and “Dirty Politics: Deception, Distraction and Democracy” (Oxford, 1992). Jamieson is an expert on political campaigns and has received numerous teaching and service awards including the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching. She is also the recipient of many fellowships and grants, including support from The Pew Charitable Trusts, the Ford Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the MacArthur Foundation. Plamondon will retire at the conclusion of the 2006-07 academic year after more than 20 years as a faculty member at Saint Mary’s College. She received a bachelor’s degree from Furman University, a master’s and doctorate from Emory University, and a law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School. ### |
