“Necessary Targets” at Saint Mary’s Takes Aim at Women and War

NOTRE DAME, Ind.—The Saint Mary’s College Theatre Department will stage a production of “Necessary Targets,” a play about women and war by Eve Ensler. The show runs April 5-9 in the Little Theatre, Moreau Center for the Arts.

“Necessary Targets” is the story of two American women from very different backgrounds who go to Bosnia to help women face their memories of war, particularly the violence aimed at these women as an act of war.

Saint Mary’s College theatre professor Katie Sullivan directs the play, and Saint Mary’s students perform the roles.

Necessary Targets has been staged in New York by Meryl Streep, Anjelica Huston, and Calista Flockhart, and performed in Sarajevo with Glenn Close and Marisa Tomei.

Performances are Wednesday, April 5 through Saturday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. A matinee performance on Sunday, April 9 begins at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are available by calling the Saint Mary’s College Box Office at 574-284-4626. The price is $8.50 for adults; $7.50 for senior citizens; $6.50 for members of the Saint Mary’s and Notre Dame communities; and $5.50 for students and children under the age of 12.
