For Immediate Release: Aquinas Symposium at Saint Mary's College NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College holds the 10 th annual Thomas Aquinas Symposium on Wednesday, April 11 at 7 p.m. in the Haggar College Center. The symposium is free and open to the public. This year's speaker is Jean Porter, professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame. Her talk is titled, "Reasoned Faith and Faithful Reason: Thomas Aquinas as Theologian and Philosopher." Thomas Aquinas, 13th century philosopher, saint and teacher of the Church, is considered by many Catholics to be the Church's greatest theologian. A reception will be held following the lecture on the mezzanine of the Haggar College Center. The symposium is sponsored by the Joyce McMahon Hank Aquinas Chair in Catholic Theology, held by Saint Mary's College Religious Studies Professor Joe Incandela, and the Edna and George McMahon Aquinas Chair in Philosophy, held by Saint Mary's Philosophy Professor Kevin McDonnell, with support from the Saint Mary's College Center for Spirituality.
