For Immediate Release Internationally recognized scientist speaks at Saint Mary’s College SOUTH BEND, Ind.—Dr. Peter Raven, called a “hero for the planet” by “Time” magazine, will deliver a public lecture at Saint Mary’s College. The talk, “Biodiversity, Sustainability, and Our Common Future,” takes place on Monday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Carroll Auditorium, Madeleva Hall. It is free of charge. Raven champions research around the world to preserve endangered plants, and is a leading advocate for conservation and a sustainable environment. He is chairman of the National Geographic Society’s Committee for Research and Exploration, and was a member of the President’s Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology during the Clinton administration. Raven is also the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the prestigious International Prize for Biology from the government of Japan. He has held Guggenheim and John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Fellowships as well.
