Saint Mary’s Volunteer Director Wins Statewide Award


NOTRE DAME, Ind.—Dr. Carolyne Call, director of the Saint Mary’s College
Office for Civic and Social Engagement (OCSE), won the 2006 Community
Service Director Award. The award honors those who facilitate and
inspire service. Call received her award during Indiana Campus Compact’s
fifth annual Student and Faculty Service Learning Conference at Purdue
Memorial Union.

Saint Mary’s College President Carol Ann Mooney nominated Call for the
award, and said, “I am frequently called on to speak to our alumnae and
other groups about the good news on campus. Without exception, I mention
our Office of Civic and Social Engagement and Dr. Carrie Call as an area
of strength and pride.”

Call assisted in the development of the OCSE. As director, she
encourages student and faculty involvement in service and service
learning. She has presented at national conferences, and has been an
invited lecturer in several states on topics of service, engagement,
spirituality, religion and multiculturalism.

“Each morning I am grateful for where I am and what I am allowed to do,”
says Call. “This job has enabled me to be a servant leader and, I hope,
leave an impression for good on the world.”

Indiana Campus Compact seeks to involve Indiana campuses in community
service in order to educate citizens, prepare tomorrow's leaders, and
contribute to the life of America's communities.
