For Immediate Release Indianapolis Native Wins College's Highest Student Award NOTRE DAME, Ind.--Julia Malone, a 2007 graduate of Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Ind., and Indianapolis native, received the Lumen Christi Award at Commencement on May 19, 2007. The Lumen Christi Award is the highest award the College confers upon a student. It goes each year to a member of the senior class who is recognized by the Saint Mary's community as an outstanding Christian woman; someone whose presence has had a profound effect on the College. During her four years at Saint Mary's, Malone worked with Campus Ministry as a peer minister and with Enrollment Management providing tours and encouraging women to attend Saint Mary's College. She was active in the Residence Hall Association and served as her hall president. Her senior year, Malone was selected as the student trustee on the Saint Mary's College Board of Trustees. In addition, Malone volunteered each summer at a camp for children with learning disabilities. Malone lives with dyslexia. Malone graduated with a biology degree, and is applying to doctoral programs for physiology. She plans to become a biology professor one day. Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Ind., is a four-year, Catholic, women's institution offering five bachelor's degrees and more than 30 major areas of study.
