For Immediate Release Trinity High School President Elected to Saint Mary's College Board of Trustees NOTRE DAME, Ind.--The Saint Mary's College Board of Trustees welcomes Sister Michelle Germanson, O.P., as one of two new members. Germanson, president of Trinity High School in River Forest, Ill., will serve a three-year term on the board. Named one of River Forest's "most influential people," Germanson has spent her life devoted to Catholic education. She has served as Trinity's president for the past 16 years and, prior to that, was dean of students at what is now Dominican University. She began her career in elementary education, serving 11 years as a teacher and nine as a principal. Germanson is a Rotary Club member and a member of the Oak Park River Forest Chamber of Commerce. She also serves on the board of directors at Dominican University and the board of directors for Connections Learning Center. She is the recipient of the 2006 Impact Award from the Archdiocesan Development Council, and received the Bernardin Medal from the Amate House in May 2007. Germanson earned her bachelor's degree in education from Edgewood College in Madison, Wis. She also holds three master's degrees: school administration and guidance counseling from Loras College, and pastoral studies from Loyola University. Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Ind., is a four-year, Catholic, women's institution offering five bachelor's degrees and more than 30 major areas of study. Saint Mary's College has six nationally accredited academic programs; a large number for a school of 1550 students. The accredited programs are: social work, art, music, teacher education, chemistry and nursing. "U.S. News & World Report" ranks Saint Mary's #1 among Midwest Comprehensive Colleges offering bachelors degrees. Sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Cross, the College was founded in 1844. ### |
