For Immediate Release Saint Mary's College Names New Chief Information Officer NOTRE DAME, Ind.--Saint Mary's College announces the appointment of Janice Thomasson as chief information officer (CIO), beginning July 23. The CIO oversees the department of information technology on campus, and is responsible for implementing technology policies and procedures and for guiding the College in the effective and innovative use of technology as a strategic resource. Thomasson has 14 years of experience in higher education information technology. She served as director of information technology at the Medical College of Georgia, followed by a post at Daytona Beach Community College. Most recently the CIO for Murray State University in Kentucky, Thomasson also has a Fortune 50 corporate management background, working for Baxter Labs in Deerfield, Ill., and for McDonnell Douglas/Boeing on the space shuttle and space station programs at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Thomasson holds a bachelor's degree in education from the university of Alabama, and a master's degree in educational technology leadership from George Washington University. "I am enthused about this opportunity to lead the planning and implementation of new technology initiatives at Saint Mary's," says Thomasson.
