Saint Mary’s College Hosts 22nd Annual High School Women’s Choir Festival

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The Saint Mary’s College Department of Music will host its 22nd annual High School Women’s Choir Festival on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 16 and 17. Admission is free and open to the public.

Participating high schools include: New Prairie (New Carlisle, Ind.), Penn (Mishawaka, Ind.), LaPorte (LaPorte, Ind.), Catholic Central (Grand Rapids, Mich.), W. H. Harrison (West Lafayette, Ind.), Mississinewa (Gas City, Ind.), Neuqua Valley (Naperville, Ill.), East Jackson (Jackson, Mich.), North Montgomery (Crawfordsville, Ind.), Niles (Niles, Mich.), River Valley (Three Oaks, Mich.), South Haven (South Haven, Mich.), Mattawan (Mattawan, Mich.), West Ottawa (Holland, Mich.), Portage Central (Portage, Mich.), Franklin Central (Indianapolis, Ind.), Alan B. Shepard (Palos Heights, Ill.), Hinsdale Central (Hinsdale, Ill.) and John Hersey (Arlington Heights, Ill.).

The Saint Mary’s College Women’s Choir will perform each day at 12:10 p.m. Dr. Debra Brubaker, professor of music at Goshen College, Dr. Hugh Ferguson Floyd, director of choral activities at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and Dr. Susan Medley, director of choral activities at Washington and Jefferson College will serve as guest commentators. The festival will be held in the Moreau Center for the Arts, O’Laughlin Auditorium.

The Moreau Center for the Arts celebrates its 50th anniversary during the 2006-2007 season. Named in honor of the Very Reverend Basil Anthony Moreau, C.S.C., the founder of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, the facility consists of O’Laughlin Auditorium, Little Theatre, Moreau Art Galleries, studios, workshops and classrooms.
