For Immediate Release MacBeth Plays at Saint Marys College NOTRE DAME, Ind.The Saint Marys College Theatre Department invites the public to see William Shakespeares legendary tragedy MacBeth at the Moreau Center for the Arts. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9 through Saturday, Nov. 12. A matinee performance takes place on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 2:30 p.m. All performances are in the Little Theater. Different from most other performances at Saint Mary's, this MacBeth cast consists entirely of women. It hasnt changed the production process that much, however, says director and Saint Marys theatre professor Mark Abram-Copenhaver. This is the most violent production of MacBeth without being bloody. We even brought in a professional fight director from Chicago to teach the cast proper fighting techniques. Abram-Copenhaver stages the play in a three-sided set that protrudes outward into the seating area. This thrust configuration brings the action closer to the audience for a more intense experience. MacBeth is Shakespeares shortest tragedy and one of his most popular works. The play highlights the dangers of the lust for power and betrayal of friends. Many view Lady MacBeth as one of the most challenging roles for women in theater. Tickets are $8.50 for adults, $7.50 for senior citizens, $6.50 for the Saint Marys and Notre Dame communities, and $5.50 for students and children under 12. (Tickets do not include processing fees.) Contact the Saint Marys College Box Office at 574-284-4626 to order tickets by phone, or visit the box office in the OLaughlin Auditorium lobby from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
