For Immediate Release General Electric Exec Speaks at Saint Marys College NOTRE DAME, Ind.Susan Peters, vice president of executive development at General Electric Company (GE), will speak at Saint Marys College on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Little Theatre, Moreau Center for the Arts. She will discuss the roles of women in corporate America. The presentation is free and open to the public. Peters, who graduated from Saint Marys in 1975, is on campus as the 2005 Shannon Executive Scholar, annually bestowed upon a distinguished Saint Marys alumna who has achieved outstanding professional success. The Shannon Executive Scholar program began in 1993 with an endowment from professor Bill Shannon of the business administration and economics department and his wife, Bonnie. Shannon Scholars share their expertise with students and the academic community at large. Peters has worked in human resources at GE for most of her professional life, beginning in 1979. Her job has taken her from the Northeastern United States to the Netherlands and back again. When GE offered Peters her most recent major promotion, she turned it down because it would mean taking her pre-teen daughter to China. That professional sacrifice led Jack Welsh to cite Peters as an example of career/family balance in his latest book titled Winning. She has since been tagged to develop a Womens Network at GE to address career/family issues. ### |
