How do males in advertisements compare to women in advertisements?

In these advertisements, men seem to have a more positive image about themselves. Instead of being passive and subservient as women are often seen as, they are strong and in control. While these are better attributes to strive for, it is highly looked down upon if you do not live up to these expectations.
