Saint
Mary's College, in collaboration with Creighton University
and the Soong Ching Ling Foundation, offers a three week
study abroad program in the summer of 2009. Students will
travel throughout China and visit many of the historic
and famous cities, including Beijing and Shanghai. Two
courses will be offered including, Environmental Ethics.
Students will be able to immerse themselves into this
fascinating culture while earning 3 credits. A fee of
$3500 covers airfare, hotels, tuition, meals, and transportation
throughout China.
Last
summer, students traveled to the beautiful cities of Nanjing,
Suzhou, Hangzhou, along with the modern cities of Beijing
and Shanghai. They were housed in local, modern hotels
and ate in local restaurants. Travel included coach buses
and trains. The students of Creighton and Saint Mary's
participated in guided tours of gardens, historical monuments,
temples, and even volunteered at an orphanage in Datong.
Courses offered last summer included Chinese Art and Chinese
Philosophy.
