majors must take 27 hours above the 200 level, Major
in Spanish (27 semester hours at 200 level and above)

MLSP
101: Introductory Spanish I: Stresses the development
of basic skills in the language; oral comprehension, speaking,
reading and writing. The student is also introduced to Hispanic
culture. The audio, video and computer Language Learning
Center is an essential tool in the learning process. College
credit will not be given if units in Spanish have been earned
in high school.
MLSP
105: Elementary Spanish I: This course reviews the principles
of the Spanish grammar for students with limited prior knowledge
of Spanish. Emphasis is placed on the communicative development
of all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading
and writing. Students will continue their study of the Spanish
language and the many facets of Hispanic culture in Spain
and Latin America.

111: Intermediate Spanish I: Development of the basic
skills acquired at the introductory level. Latin American
and Spanish civilization are also a component of the course.
The audio, video, and computer Language Learning Center
is an essential tool in the learning process.

210: Advanced Grammar/Composition: A thorough review
of the more challenging grammatical aspects of the Spanish
language is applied to the development of writing skills.
MLSP
212: Spanish Composition: Designed to develop advanced
skills in writing in Spanish. Various themes, styles and
types of composition are considered.

320: Introduction to the Study of Spanish Literature:
An analysis of narrative and dramatic techniques and poetic
devices to introduce Spanish majors and minors to the study
and appreciation of Spanish and Latin-American literature.

418: Survey of 19th & 120th-Century Spanish Literature:
This survey of representative literary works includes readings
from different literary movements such as Romanticism, Realism,
the Generation of 1898, Modernism, the Generation of 1927,
and contemporary trends.
MLSP
429: Latin American Women Writers: Readings of works
of women writers from a range of literary texts (novels,
short stories, dramas, poems, essays) which raise questions
about the female discourse vs. the dominant male canon of
Latin American culture.

490: SpTp: Spanish for the Medical Profession
