Accelerated Option Program in Nursing
For women with a baccalaureate degree in another major from an accredited college or university, Saint Mary's College offers the Accelerated Option Program in Nursing. The program leads to a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in nursing. Upon completion of course requirements and clinical experience, you are prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as a registered professional nurse. Typically, the program begins in mid-May and finishes mid-August of the following year. However, if your earlier degree program did not include any of the prerequisites listed below, you should allow one or two years for completion of the prerequisite courses. You may be admitted to the program before completing all of the Saint Mary's general education requirements; however, you must complete the College's general education requirements to receive your degree and become eligible to take the licensure exam.
