Alaska Radio Mission (Nome, Alaska): KNOM is a powerful, award-winning radio station that beams education, inspiration and positive entertainment into dozens of isolated villages throughout western Alaska. The station is owned by Catholic church and volunteers can serve full time on the staff. KNOM has operated a successful volunteer program since 1966 and since then nearly 300 adventurous individuals have served as volunteers.

Farm of the Child (Trujillo, Honduras): Honduras is the poorest and least developed nation in Central America, Poverty and hunger prevail, leading to disease, violence, crime, and substance abuse. As a result, many families are weakened and destroyed. The children are left orphaned and abandoned. Farm of the Child provides homes for these children, ranging in age from1 to 17. Currently the Farm serves 45 children in 6 orphan homes, living in a family-like environment. Children are schooled at St. Peter's School and there is also a health clinic.

Little Brothers (various locations): Little Brothers is an international, voluntary organization committed to relieving isolation and loneliness among the elderly. There are a number of opportunities available, including some in Chicago.

Mercy Housing (various locations): The mission of Mercy Housing is to create and strengthen healthy communities through the provision of quality, affordable, program-enriched housing for individuals and families who are economically poor.

Safe Passage (Guatemala City): The mission of Safe Passage is to help the children of families working at the Guatemala City garbage dump move beyond their poverty in a dignified and permanent way through education.
