MIDDLE EAST POLITICS

PROF. MARCY

(PREREQUISITE: POSC 206 OR 207)

Recent events have again shown that the Middle East is one of the major problem areas of the world. This is due primarily to the conflicts in the area itself, but the situation has been at times complicated by the goals major powers seek to achieve. In this course we will look at the peoples of this region, the movements, ideologies, and political systems that have developed there, and at the very complex and changing relationships between actors in this part of the world.

Two papers or class presentations, a mid-term and a final.
