Introduction:
Professor in the Department of Biology at Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, IN 46556. My usual teaching assignments include Field Botany (Biology 324), Economic Botany (Biology 313), Ecology (Biology 323), Statistical Methods for Biologists (Biology 315), and Biology and Human Values II (Biology 104). In addition to these formal courses, I have also directed 2-5 senior research projects each year at Saint Mary's.
My research interests focus on plant taxonomy and systematics, especially of the red and black oaks (Quercus section Lobatae) native to North America. I use numerical taxonomic and morphometric methods to examine problems dealing with morphological variation within and among populations and species and to investigate evidence of hybridization among oak species.
