Michiana Monologues: Calling all Michiana Women! For the past several years, at Saint Mary's College, women on campus have been writing and performing their own monologues in the style of the Vagina Monologues. Some monologues are serious, some are funny, some are heart-rending, but all are thought provoking. The goal of the production has been to increase awareness of women's issues and combat violence against women. Well, this year we're taking the Monologues a step further. Not only are we doing them here at SMC (save the date- Feb 15 and 16), but we are also working with IUSB as they follow our model and produce Michiana Monologues! (Feb 22 and 23) More than that, in April we're hoping to collaborate with IUSB, Ivy Tech, and local women's organizations to perform South Bend Community Monologues downtown. Can you imagine how many women's voices will be heard? In preparation for this community-wide event, Catherine Pittman from Saint Mary's and IUSB organizers April Lidinsky and Danica Duensing are sponsoring Monologue Writing Workshops around town to encourage local women to participate. The workshops are designed to explain what a "monologue" is, how to write one, and why we know that every woman has a monologue inside! We need voices from all over Michiana! Please come, and bring your friends to one or more of these Monologue Writing Workshop. Here are the dates:
