Call to Service
Several representatives of the College, academic, religious and civic communities presented inspirational charges to Dr. Mooney.

From the Students:

Sarah Catherine White ’05, president, student body
“In 1972, Dr. Mooney, you graduated from Saint Mary's College and stepped out into the world to begin your career, and like the dance of multiplying rings created as a stone taps water, your life has continued to impact those you have met and have worked with since you left Saint Mary’s. Today we celebrate the fact that your life experiences have now brought you back, back to the place that instilled in you the strong commitment to excellence and service.”

From the Parents:

Catherine Hammel Frischkorn ’75
“We call upon you [Dr. Mooney] to challenge our daughters to look at life through the lens of service, knowing that when they breathe in the love of God, they breathe out the love of neighbor.”

From the Alumnae:
Sarah Sullivan Bigelow ’96,
President, Alumnae Association

“We are proud and invigorated by a new leader with whom we share our very foundation, this Saint Mary’s education. Alumnae who were challenged by the same professors and developed spiritually in the same spaces as our new leader are eager to collaborate in making our shared vision for this college a reality.”
From the Faculty:
Donald E. Miller
Chair, Faculty Assembly

“On this great day, we the faculty greet with genuine joy our skilled administrator, reputable scholar, award-winning professor, and remarkable family woman…. We are rejuvenated in the awareness that our new president will have her priorities right for leading a Catholic institution for women.”
From the Sisters of the Holy Cross:
Sister Mary Louise Full, CSC ’65, Secretary General
“We call you, Carol, to the ministry of education and service, and we affirm your gifts. …We urge you to lead this community into the future promoting an environment where all learn with and from each other.”

From the Women's College Coalition:

Susan E. Lennon Executive Director
“We look forward to her leadership not only here at Saint Mary's College––leadership characterized by inspiration, wisdom, vision, energy, and a sense of humor––but within the coalition as we advance that unfinished agenda.”
From the University of Notre Dame:
Nathan O. Hatch
Provost

“I can think of no one better qualified to lead a Catholic, women’s college into the 21st century.”
From the State of Indiana:
The Honorable Chris Chocola
U.S. House of Representatives - 2nd District of Indiana

“Saint Mary's College is an invaluable asset to our community, state, and country. The women who graduate from this institution can be assured that they have received one of the finest educations in the nation, providing them with resources they will need to become leaders of tomorrow.”
