Here at Saint Mary's College, we have our own way of doing
things. It's what sets us apart.
Some of these "style rules" you may be aware of;
some you may not, but bearing that in mind, please remember and never
forget:
"Saint Mary's College,
Notre Dame, Indiana" (the Notre Dame,
Indiana is part of our name and should not be omitted)
"Saint" not "St."
- we never abbreviate the word Saint in our name.
"C.S.C." stands
for Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross. We
usually punctuate this with periods.
We prefer to use "Sister"
to the abbreviated "Sr."
It is "Le Mans" --
separated by a space, and pronounced without the "s"(Le Mans
Hall).
It is spelled "Madeleva"
-- (often misspelled as Madaleva)
It should be (Madeleva Society, Sister Madeleva, Madeleva
Classroom Building, etc)
Theatre is the correct spelling
(Little Theatre, Department of Communication, Dance and
Theatre).
Other helpful correct spellings/usages:
Moreau Center for the Arts
O'Laughlin Auditorium
Haggar College Center
Shaheen College Bookstore
Welsh Parlor (the parlor in
the Haggar College Center)
Shaheen Terrace (part of the
Haggar College Center)
Noble Family Dining Hall
Department of Business Administration and
Economics
Reignbeaux Lounge in Le Mans Hall
