The following describes the content that each entity of the college is expected to display in its respective websites.  Of course, there are exceptions to every rule;  exceptions should be discussed with the webmaster.

Each campus entity should have separate pages for the following, as prescribed by the new web design standard.

These pages (descriptions of each are below) must follow the standard design scheme outlined in Saint Mary's Web Graphic Style.  Additional pages may be created.  Departments and offices are encouraged to follow the design standard for additional pages but are not required to do so.

Q & A's about content

Why do we need to offer navigation links?

Because it provides the consistent navigation needed for users to move from page to page within our site. It helps him or her to know where always to go to find a faculty or staff member's information, course info, etc., within a specific site, or find their way back to the top levels of the college's site.

Remember: The navigation graphic that we offer in this website, has all of the navigation links in place for you. All you have to do is add it to your page.

Why should I note who maintains the page?

Because providing the name and e-mail address of the maintainer provides a lifeline for the user to get to you.  It's common courtesy.

Why should I add a date and copyright to my page?

It is a consistent way to tell what year a page was created and that the information is property of Saint Mary's College--discouraging unauthorized reproduction or distribution of information.

- Can I add more copyright info?

Yes, additional copy forbidding unauthorized usage of images or copy, or notation that it is a specific department/office within Saint Mary's College can be added.

If you questions about web copyright issues, please contact the webmaster
