ResNet recommends using the pop-up blockers that are built into current web browsers, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, and Safari. ResNet does not recommend the pop-up blockers that are included in software such as AOL Instant Messenger or that are available as separate software because they interfere with webmail programs.

For malware prevention and removal, ResNet recommends using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware in combination with the McAfee virus protection software that Saint Mary's College provides at no cost to students, faculty, and staff for their personally-owned computers.

  • McAfee VirusScan for Windows: (protects computer against new infections, configured to scan automatically for existing infections)
