Zimbra Briefcase
The Briefcase lets you save files in your account so that you can access these files
whenever you log in to your account from any computer. (It is an option to e-mailing
yourself files.)
You can upload documents, spreadsheets, presentations, images, and PDF files from a computer to Zimbra for storage. You can save attachments sent with your e-mail messages to your Briefcase. You can create different Briefcase folders to organize your files and you can share your Briefcase folder with others.
Files saved in your Briefcase count against your Zimbra quota.
To access the your Briefcase:
- Visit http://webmail.saintmarys.edu
and log in.
- Click on the Briefcase tab to view your Briefcase.
Viewing files in your Briefcase:
- Visit http://webmail.saintmarys.edu
and log in.
- Click on the Briefcase tab to view your Briefcase.
- Click on the View button to select how you wish to view your Briefcase.
- Explorer View: Files are displayed as icons.
- Detail View: Files are displayed in horizontal lines
with the file name, file type, file size, date uploaded to Zimbra, the file owner,
and which folder the file is in.
- Column Browser View: Files are displayed vertically.
In this view you can click on a file (or folder) in the left column to see information
(or contents) about the item in the right column, including file name, a download link
to download the file to your computer, file type, file size, date uploaded to Zimbra, the
file owner, date last modified, and who modified the file.
To add an e-mail attachment to your Briefcase:
- Find a message with an attachment you wish to save to your Briefcase.
- Next to the attachment's file name, Zimbra gives you options for the file.
- Click on Briefcase link next to the attachment.
- Type in the name of the destination you want the file saved to,
or select the destination by clicking on it with your mouse.
- Click OK.
To add a file from your computer to your Briefcase:
- Click on the Briefcase tab to view your Briefcase.
- Click on the Upload File button.
- In the Upload New File to Briefcase window, click the Choose File
button.
- Navigate to the file on your computer that you wish to upload to Zimbra.
When you have found the file, click on it once to highlight it, then click the
Choose button.
- You cannot upload a file with the same name to the same briefcase.
- You can specify how files with the same name should be treated when you
attempt to upload the newest file.
- If you want to be notified that you are uploading a file with the same name,
select Ask Me. If a file has the same name as an existing upload, the
Upload Conflict window will appear. ÊYou can either keep your existing file or
replace it with the uploaded file. You can also view the new file. This is the default.
- If you always want the file you upload to replace the existing file with the
same name, select Replace With My File. The new file is uploaded and replaces
the existing file. You do not receive any notice that an existing file is being replaced.
- If you do not want the files in your Briefcase to be replaced, select
Keep Existing File. The file is not uploaded and you do not receive any notice
that an existing file is being kept.
- Click OK.
To delete a file from your Briefcase:
- Click on the Briefcase tab to view your Briefcase.
- Click once on the name of the file in your Briefcase that you wish to delete
to highlight it.
- Click on the Delete button.
- Zimbra will confirm that you wish to delete the file. Click Yes to
delete the file.
- The file will be moved to your Trash.
