*we live in the Lincoln Park on one of the few streets
where parking is easy.
El: Take red line or brown line to Fullerton stop, walk west on Fullerton
passing Sheffield about a block to Clifton
(passing Depaul Quad on your left)
Walk south (left) on Clifton (you can only go South/left),
passing Belden. Our building is on the left facing a park,
right before the alley before Webster.
Bus: Fullerton Bus is nearest route. Get off at Racine
and walk south on Racine, making a left on Belden
and a right on Clifton at the school. Follow above walking directions.
From Armitage Bus: get off at Racine and walk north
on Racine to Webster, make a right on Webster to Clifton.
Our building will be on the far left of the
intersection just after the alley
so make a short left on Clifton.
Driving: Take Fullerton to Clifton and head south,
closet major intersection is Racine and Fullerton.
If you are heading from the west and you reach Sheffield,
you have gone to far. If you are heading from the East
and hit Racine, you have gone too far.
Parking is easy on our street. If you park on the right
of the street--on the park side, no permit is needed s
outh of Webster and North of Belden.
There is also no tag needed anywhere on Webster.
FEBRUARY SERVICE EVENT
Join fellow St. Mary's College Alumnae and friends for a morning of
community service at a Give Back Day sponsored by the Big Shoulders
Fund and its Auxiliary Board.
Volunteers will be working at St. Malachy School. We will be doing a
variety of activities: painting ceilings, deep cleaning the school,
sorting sports equipment, and more.
Here are the details:

Wear: Clothes you can get dirty
Notes: Breakfast will be provided and for all those who are
interested, you are invited to lunch in the neighborhood after.

This meeting will focus on a wrap-up of Founders' Day, and the
drafting of the Club's 2010 Newsletter. The Club will also be
collecting donations such as toiletries, toothbrushes, toilet paper,
sanitary napkins, tampons, CTA 1-day passes, and grocery/drug store
gift cards for the residents of Miriam Apartments in
preparation for the Club's service project on November 23, 2009.
NOVEMBER SERVICE OPPORTUNITY
Get involved and help others during the holiday season!
Join the Chicago East Club in hosting a Thanksgiving dinner for the
residents of Miriam Apartments, a Mercy Housing organization. Members
of the Service Committee invite you to help prepare, serve, and share
dinner with the residents.
Date: Monday, November 23, 2009
Location: Miriam Apartments, 4707 N. Malden Avenue in Uptown
Time: 6:00pm set-up, followed by dinner at 6:30pm

If you cannot participate in this event, please consider donating to
Miriam Apartments. Miriam residents are in need of toiletries (hotel
shampoos, soaps, etc. work well), toothbrushes, toilet paper, sanitary
napkins, tampons, CTA 1-day passes, and grocery/drug store gift
cards. We will collect contributions at the club's board meeting on
November 17th.
Mercy Housing Lakefront (MHL) is a Chicago nonprofit providing
permanent supportive housing to low income and homeless adults. MHL
owns and manages 15 buildings throughout Chicago in Uptown, Lakeview,
Austin, Roseland, and the South Loop. The Miriam Apartments is MHL's
only all women's building. It opened in 1992 and houses 66 women, who
are homeless at move in. The Resident Services department provides
one-on-one case management, groups, on site therapy and medical
services and other services.
With several Saint Mary's alumnae on their staff, Mercy Housing is
very much looking forward to sharing part of the Thanksgiving holiday
with our club!

Please join the Chicago East Alumnae Club for Meet Me at Millennium
Thursday, August 13, to welcome all new 2009 SMC graduates to Chicago!
We will be meeting in Millennium Park for a jazz concert by Robert
Irving. Please feel free to bring a blanket, snacks, and/or a bottle
of wine to the gathering. We plan to sit in the grassy area behind
the Pavilion and watch the concert together.
We hope to see you there for good friends, good food, good times -
and great memories of SMC!
