Art Department Mission Statement

The Department of Art at Saint Mary’s College is an integral part of a creative community where women develop their talents and prepare to make significant contributions to a global society.

The faculty encourages aesthetic and conceptual exploration within the fabric of a traditional liberal arts education supplemented by travel, internships, and interdisciplinary experience. 

The Department of Art shares in the College’s broader ambition to provide its students with keen self-knowledge, lively imagination, lifelong intellectual and cultural interests, and the ability to make socially responsible choices about the future.

Art Department Objective

To create a learning environment for women which facilitates the development of strong intellectual, creative, visual and technical skills by providing an excellent undergraduate program in the visual arts.
