Allison Smith was and remains to be one of the most accomplished swimmers for the Belles. Allison immediately made an impact on the Saint Mary’s swim team from her first year. She took her place among the record books in her first year in the 500 freestyle and 200 individual medley while leading the Belles in several other events. For her outstanding performances, she was named as the Belles’ Most Valuable Swimmer while also being named as an All-American for her efforts in the 1650 freestyle. Allison demonstrated her excellence in the pool throughout the remainder of her career. She was named as the team’s Most Valuable Swimmer at the conclusion of her sophomore, junior, and senior years. By the time Allison’s career was finished, she had claimed six individual records, four of which she still holds today – 500 freestyle, 1000 freestyle, 1650 freestyle, and 400 individual medley. Allison graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
Since graduating, she has served as a traveling professional nurse for seven years, having worked with cardiac patients in California, Florida, and North Carolina. Currently, Allison is on assignment in Massachusetts in a trauma center where she works as an emergency room nurse. Allison is married to Matt Provencher.
