Indi Dieckgrafe-Words in Motion-Dance and Poetry

Indi Dieckgrafe is an associate professor at Saint Mary's College where she directs the program in dance and serves as the faculty representative for the CWIL National Advisory Board.  Indi is a board member of the United Religious Community and an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in South Bend and the Lake Shore Chapter of the Sacred Dance Guild and is a certified regional leader of "Interplay."

 

María Meléndez-Words in Motion-Dance and Poetry

María Meléndez teaches creative writing, Chicana literature and multi-ethnic environmental literature in the Department of English at Saint Mary's College.  Her first full-length collection of poetry is forthcoming from the University of Arizona Press in spring 2006, and she has published short stories, essays and poetry in a variety of magazines, including Puerto del Sol, Orion Afield, International Quarterly and Ecological Restoration.  She reviews contemporary poetry for such publications as CALYX and Poetry Flash, and she is Associate Editor at Momotombo Press, an independent publisher based out of the Institute for Latino Studies at Notre Dame.  Her poetry chapbook Base Pairs was published by Swan Scythe Press in 2001, and her work appears in several recently published anthologies, including Sisters of the Earth, Hunger Enough: Living Spiritually in a Consumer Society, and Under the Fifth Sun: Latino Literature from California.  She came to Indiana by way of the University of California, Davis, where she completed graduate studies in poetry with Sandra McPherson and Gary Snyder, and later worked as Writer-in-Residence at the UC Davis Arboretum.  She lives with her husband and their two children near the north shore of the Saint Joseph river.

Windsong-The Spiritual Practice of Stopping:  Ways to Live the Now and Enter into Soul Space

Judith Anne Beattie, CSC, and Mary Ellen Vaughan, CSC are members of the Sisters of the Holy Cross and experienced spiritual directors.  They have backgrounds in health care as nurses and chaplains and Masters degrees in Theology and Pastoral Studies.  They staff a spirituality center near downtown South Bend called Windsong.

Judi Larsen-Qi Gong-Health and Wellness Sampler

Judi Larson is an eleven-year breast cancer survivor who studies and teaches Qi Gong based movements and breath work.  Qi Gong is the foundation for the better-known movement of Tai Chi. Judi is a kinesthetic learner and has studied body-based practices for the past 25 years.  She also sings with the South Bend Chamber Singers.

 

 

Karen Sommers-Yoga-Health and Wellness Sampler

Karen is the Executive Director of Oncology Services at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.  Karen has 7 years experience directing Integrative Healing Centers and has practiced yoga for her own stress management and wellness for 8 years.  She has been teaching yoga for three years and started yoga classes for breast cancer patients to assist them on their healing journey.

 

Rev. Barbara Wilson-Meditation-Health and Wellness Sampler

A life-long meditator, Barbara is trained in Transcendental Meditation, Christian Centering Prayer and in Mindfulness (or Vipassana) Meditation, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction through the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts.  She is a graduate of the Divinity School at Yale University, and is ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church, USA. She also holds an advanced degree in Counseling Psychology and is a Board Certified Chaplain.

Candace Corson-Nutrition-Health and Wellness Sampler

Candace Corson, MD. was trained at the Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, CT, Family Practice Residency at University of Rochester, NY.  She served at the National Health Service Corps, a U.S. Public Health Service for five years.  For the past decade, Candace has spent working in Prevention, Integrative Healing, and Chronic Illness.
