Business Internship in the European Union:       Dublin and London

Students have a choice of participating in a 6 week summer internship in Dublin, Ireland or London, England.  All internships are in the field of business, which include but are not limited to; advertising, marketing, public relations, management & finance, politics & international relations, arts administration, journalism, etc. Placements are in professional settings and require full attendance of up to 40 hours per week.  In the United Kingdom, students will build job skills, multicultural perspective, and international networks, all of which are essential for conducting business in a global economy.  Click on these links for more information on the Dublin program or the London program.

Accepted students receive 3 credits and are expected to complete course requirements, written assignments, and on-site employee evaluation.  Writing assignments include a preliminary proposal, mid-summer report, executive interview, and final report of the experience. Through reflective practice students apply various business concepts to real-world work situations.  In addition to work experience, students are also building intercultural skills during this introduction to the world of international business.

Before leaving Saint Mary’s Campus students will receive their internship placements. Once students arrive in the United Kingdom, on-site program staff will orientate students to the city and provide additional mentorship.  Students live in apartment style housing in the metropolitan center with other students on the affiliated EUSA program. The process is intended to help students develop effective business communication skills and make informed career choices.
