Study Abroad Insurance and Safety
Saint Mary’s College makes it a top priority to ensure the safety and well-being of students studying abroad. Once you are admitted to a Saint Mary’s Study Abroad program, we will provide in-depth information on your program location and onsite orientations to help you remain safe and healthy throughout your experiences abroad.
HTH Worldwide Health Insurance
Saint Mary’s College offers mandatory health insurance to all students studying abroad through HTH Worldwide www.hthstudents.com insurance company. Students on any of Saint Mary’s study abroad programs are automatically covered by this policy. The cost of this insurance is included in the study abroad fee for semester programs or program fee for short-term programs.
Saint Mary’s study abroad students will receive a copy of the HTH pamphlet during pre-departure orientation. You will be enrolled in the insurance plan by CWIL once you are admitted by Saint Mary’s study abroad programs and have confirmed the participation. The HTH card will be sent to students in two days by the company and students need to register at its website for benefits and forms.
The insurance coverage begins on the day when you leave the U.S. and ends two days after the program ending date. If you come back home earlier because of illness or accident, you will not be covered by the insurance anymore. We recommend that you maintain or purchase a separate plan for coverage in the U.S. If you have personal travel plan overseas before or after the program dates, you are responsible for your own coverage.
