The new academic building will be located east of the Saint Mary's Science Hall and north of Madeleva Hall. It will have three stories and a total of 68,000 square feet.

Fourteen departments and programs and the College’s three centers of distinction will be in their new home by fall 2008.

From technology to collaboration, the building has been designed to facilitate today's teaching and learning tools and methodologies.

Distinctive aspects of the design include:

• Classrooms of diverse sizes and layouts, all equipped with wireless or other computing technology and projection equipment;
• Social science laboratory spaces for media projects, data analysis, interviews, experiments, and other hand-on activities;
• Numerous large and small gathering areas including a main floor commons and a second-floor café and terrace;
• Improved accessibility for people with disabilities;
• Elements to promote environmental sustainability including furnishings made from recycled materials and abundant, energy-efficient windows to maximize natural light.
