Event Proceeds
Nearly $250,000 was raised from
the 2002 and 2005 Down
the Avenue events for the benefit of The
Office for Civic and Social Engagement, Saint Mary's volunteer services program,
and for student scholarships. Proceeds from 2007 Down the Avenue
will make it possible for The Office for Civic and Social Engagement
to expand its summer
internship partnership with local agencies
and enhance its Marquette
Primary Center After School Program.
In addition, the College will endow a Spirit of Service Scholarship
in honor of Ernestine Raclin for a Saint Mary's student who
is an active volunteer in the Michiana Community.
Office for Civic and Social Engagement
Saint Mary's Office for Civic and Social Engagement
is responsible for service-learning projects, volunteer service
for students, and post-graduate service options. Students,
staff, and faculty establish partnerships with the community
to help those in needs. The Office for Civic and Social Engagement
takes seriously the call from Saint Mary's College mission statement
to promote lives of social responsibility among its members.
