Ernestine M. Raclin
Ernestine
Raclin is frequently recognized as Michiana's quintessential
volunteer. She has demonstrated a lifetime of outstanding service
in civic, social, health care, human service, and humanitarian
arenas. Her investment and involvement in educational institutions,
including Saint Mary's College, has been extensive. Ernie's
leadership roles have frequently included serving as the "first or only woman." Serving
as Chairwoman Emeritus of 1st Source Corporation and 1st Source Bank, Ernie
was the first woman to sit on the First National Bank of Chicago,
the NIPSCO board, the MidCon Board, and the People's Energy
Board. In addition, she was the first woman to chair the Indiana
University South Bend Advisory Board, the first woman to chair
a Notre Dame campaign, the first woman to serve on the Chamber
of Commerce board and lead Project Future, the first woman
to serve on United Way of America as Director and Treasurer
for the Board of Governors, and the first woman to chair our local United Way
campaign. Mrs. Raclin's "spirit of service" in
Michiana, -- in Indiana -- is
perhaps unmatched.
