Declaring Education at Notre Dame
Notre Dame Arts and Letters students need to see Assistant
Dean Vicki Toumayan (631-8636) to declare Education (EDU) as "supplemental
studies" as soon as they are officially admitted to the Education
Department at St. Mary's. Those in Science need to see Associate Dean Kathleen
Cannon (631-5812). If students do not declare Education, their teaching
certification will not show on their final Notre Dame transcript.
Overloads
Pursuing state licensing for teaching means that most Notre Dame students
will need to overload. Please see Dean Toumayan or Dean Cannon for permission to do this;
permission is granted early for education students only.
Summer School Courses
These courses are offered every year during summer school at St. Mary's
depending on a minimum enrollment of 7 students. Unfortunately, if
enrollment is less than 7, the classes will be cancelled. These courses
provide a flexible option for students with full schedules during the
regular academic year. Please note that summer courses at Saint Mary's
are not part of the consortium agreement and are subsequently treated
as transfer credit.
