"Studies in Theology and Film: The Arts and Religious Implications" [1 Credit]

The theme of this course is ARTISTS AND RELIGION. DVDs of six films are viewed outside of class: "The Agony and the Ecstasy" (Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel), "Turning Point" (fictional story of two ballerinas), "Frida," (painter wife of Diego Rivera), "La Traviata" (the opera on film), "Dirty Dancing" (fictional story of contemporary dancing at a resort), "Lust for Life," (Van Gogh's true story). Questions are provided; class is all discussion; a 4-5 page paper at the end.
