Composer and Lyricist Home
pages

- The Stephen
Sondheim Stage
- This page is being constructed by Mark Bakalor, a
contributor to the Sondheim majordomo list, and a team of volunteers.
Many new features are being added all the time, and all are worthwhile
and interesting. Not to be missed!
- The Quotable Stephen
Sondheim Page
- Here's a fun page offering a "quote of the day" from the lyrics of guess
who. A cute idea!
- Howard
Ashman
- Here is a biographical page, taken from the Disney site.
- Irving Berlin
- The official website of the Irving Berlin Music Company, this site
also has biographical information about the composer and information about
his shows and songs. Essentially an offshoot of the Rodgers and
Hammerstein site, since Williamson Music controls the catalog.
- Leonard
Bernstein
- A very classy site, sponsored by Classical Insites. Because of it's
classical music pedigree, this site almost exclusively emphasizes that
aspect of Bernstein's career, so not too much is available here about his
musical theatre projects. You will , however, still find such things as the
biographical timeline, and perhaps the videography and partial discography
quite useful. A CD is being offered for sale exclusively through the
website, and they have specials on other material when you mention the WWW.
Be sure to check out the Help page for a (very helpful indeed) FAQ and a
form to join a mailing list to inform you about online events.
- Marc Blitzstein
- Big Blizstein site!
- George
Gershwin Home Page
- The next link has information about both Gershwins, but
this one is just George.
- Here's a George
Gershwin page in Spanish.
- The Gilbert and
Sullivan Archive
- Okay, I'll branch out to operetta. This is a fabulous site, with almost
everything youcould want to know about G & S. I'm a sucker for clear and
logical organization, too.
- Lorenz
Hart
- Here you can find a list of songs Hart wrote for several shows.
There are also a few selected lyrics and quotes, to make this site even
more interesting. A filmography is also included.
- Rupert Holmes
- Some good information on The Mystery of Edwin Drood, including
a selection of images from Broadway, London and touring casts (the page's
author worked closely with Holmes on this show). This
page covers Holmes' popular recording career as well as his theatrical
writing. For biographical information, be sure to follow the "Remember
WENN" link.
- Jones
& Schmidt
- A wonderful overview of the musical careers of Tom Jones and Harvey
Schmidt. This site includes historical information and full synopses for
many of the team's shows (with more to come, I'm sure). There is also a
discography, and even a page of selected lyrics (a representation from
each show)! A great resource, sure to get even better!
- Andrew Lloyd Webber
- A VERY complete list of ALW's songs, a thorough discography, and the
infamous "Andrew Lloyd Webber's Bottom Drawer," with a run-down of all the
composer's re-used trunk songs.
- Andrew Lloyd Webber Online
- Which lists several alternate sites to the
composers various musicals, and features a "barter page" where fans can
trade merchandise, etc.
- The official site
- Amanda McBroom
- A page for the composer of Heartbeats.
- Alan Menken
- A biography, a discography, and lot of links.
- Johnny Mercer
- Mercer wrote the songs for such shows as Li'l Abner, St.
Louis Woman and Top Banana, as well as lots of pop music.
- Cole Wide Web: The Cole
Porter Shrine
- The Musicography section of this site alone makes
this one of the best composer resources on the WWW! The layout is in
tables, so make sure your browser supports this before you try it. The
CD section is disappointingly scanty, but hopefully, that will improve
with time.
- The Cole Porter
Reference Guide is another worthy site.
- Tim Rice
- A fine and informative page about this important lyricist. The
page's author (creator of the Elaine Paige homepage, as well) has
included a wealth of good information, and plenty of interesting
bibliography to assist those longing to find more. An excellent site.
- Rodgers
and Hammerstein
- The official site.
- Bernard J. Taylor
- There is much information here about Taylor, the composer of such
musicals as Pride and Prejudice and Nosferatu. Interviews,
essays and reviews of his work, as well as a number of sound clips, make
this an entertaining and informative site. There is an extensive section
about Claire Moore, as well. Highly recommended for Taylor's fans.
- Kurt Weill
- An official site put up by the Kurt Weill Foundation for Music.
- Frank Wildhorn
- The Official website for this composer/lyricist.
- P. G.
Wodehouse
- This page is a list of Wodehouse's musicals, with a few related
details. The link at the bottom will take you to the alt.fan.wodehouse FAQ.
