"Courtesy Renewal Reminders" are sent to faculty and
administrators in September. Most materials may be renewed online using "My
Account" for another loan period unless
the material has been requested. Overdue reminders
are sent primarily via e-mail.
The online
catalog is available for searching for materials. Please inquire at the circulation
desk 284-5278 if the material you require is not on the shelf. All circulating
materials,
with the exception of course reserve materials,
are subject to being recalled for use by another patron if they have been in
circulation for a certain length of time. A recall may be issued for books after
they have been in circulation for a minimum
of 7 days. Recalls may be placed from the online catalog through "My Account."
Course
reserve materials are can be searched by instructor name, course name/number
and title. Printed lists of course reserve materials, organized by instructors'
names and course numbers are also available in notebooks
at the circulation desk.
It is the responsibility
of the patron to return library materials on time. Library materials
that are not returned or renewed by the due date are subject to overdue
notices and service charges. Overdue reminders will be sent primarily
via e-mail. Failure to receive overdue reminders does not exempt you
from the due date.
Items
not returned after 30 days from the due date
will be presumed lost. A lost book
fee of $60.00 will be automatically assessed.
This charge includes a $40.00 book replacement fee*
and a $20.00 processing fee.
A
detailed bill will be sent to the faculty or administrator
with the expectation that prompt payment will be
made for the replacement of lost materials. Checks
should be made to "Saint Mary's College" and
sent to the library director for processing. Unpaid
library charges may result in patron borrowing privileges
being restricted until the matter is resolved. Materials
found and returned to the Library within in one year
after it has been billed will have the replacement
fee refunded.
Questions
about this policy should be directed to the Collection
Management Supervisor.
Theft
and mutilation of library materials are state offenses, Indiana
Code 35-43-4-3.5, and, therefore, are matters
for College disciplinary action. Inspection of books,
briefcases, backpacks, and handbags may be requested
to ensure that library materials are properly checked out.
