Answer: 2D Art Project Final (The Criteria )

A More Extensive Anwser: As I am sure you took a glance over the criteria by now. Perhaps you've noticed the problem I've pointed out. The type of problem that would only present itself as a problem to an indecisive person, such as myself. Essentially you have to: make a map...of anything. Anything! Awe struck by this excessive freedom I found myself making a list of map possibilities. On reviewing the list, I decided to incorporate it all through a map of my thought progression for this project. So I figured the best way to throw a lot of random ideas together and present it in a less confusing manner would be a website. So here it is my My 2D Final Project: Mapping out my Thought Process for my 2D Final Through Cartography.

The Criteria

  • A project exploring identity through the language and design of cartography
  • Your goal is to create an idiosyncratic map exploring your identity through one of three thematic approaches to conceptual map making as described in Katherine Harmon's book, Your Are Here
  • Some examples are:
    • Theme One: Personal Goegraphies
      • Your body
      • Your dreams/nightmares
      • Your ambitions
      • Your genealogy
    • Theme Two: A Home in the World
      • Memory map of neighborhood gorwing up
      • Air routes of all the places you've been
      • Your disasterous camping trip
    • Theme Three: Realms of Fantasty
      • Map based on Calvino's Invisible Cities or other favorite text
      • Map of the city you most want to visit but have never been to
    • And as of course, known to all in Krista Hoefle's classes, if you can present it and make it work: anything goes.
    • So make a map basically...about anything...
